The 2025 Academic Year Opening Ceremony of Ishikawa Prefectural Nursing University was held.
May 29, 2025 (Thursday) marked the Foundation Day of Ishikawa Prefectural Nursing University.
This year, the university proudly celebrates its 25th anniversary!
As part of the commemorative events, an introduction was given for the newly launched Ishikawa Prefecture-endowed course, “Disaster Nursing Practice and Science,” which began in April. We welcomed Dr. Shinji Akitomi—who served as the DMAT General Headquarters Chief during past disasters and as the Japan Medical Association’s JMAT Coordinator during the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake—as the guest lecturer. He spoke about the importance of providing “compassionate and person-centered healthcare and nursing” during times of disaster.
In addition, a student-led session was held to explore “Disaster Relief Activities Students Can Do.” The session sparked active discussion and reflected the strong motivation and passion of our students.
Participants also experienced emergency cooking using a kamado bench, along with many corporate exhibits!
It was a productive and insightful day of learning about disaster preparedness and action.
