On Sunday, November 17, the first session of the 2024 Recurrent Education Program, titled “Let’s Learn the Basics and Practice of Seating Posture Adjustment for Elderly Care! Basic Edition: ‘Fundamentals of Seating’ (Lecture and Practice),” was held at Ishikawa Prefectural Nursing University.

We invited Mr. Shunsuke Kanno, an expert in seating (Representative of Ordinary Life Co., Ltd., Physical Therapist, and Certified Care Manager), who taught the basics of seating posture and seating in wheelchairs, based on anatomical, kinesiological, and physiological principles.

The lecture was interspersed with practical exercises, covering assistance techniques, transfer movements, and the creation of simple tools for seating adjustments and posture regulation. It was a very meaningful lecture focused on putting the patient first.

The second session will be held on Sunday, December 22. The topic will be the practical edition: “Introduction and Utilization of Various Wheelchairs and Practical Techniques for Posture Adjustment Using Seating” (Lecture and Practice).
